High-speed measurement of the referenced track geometry
Efficient pre-measuring, post-measuring, and defect localization at 100 km/h
What is Plasser ReferencedGeometry?
Plasser ReferencedGeometry combines a stereo camera system for recording fixed points with an inertial measurement system that continuously records the track geometry.
Fixed points are recorded fully automatically, eliminating the need for labour-intensive conventional fixed point measuring that requires stops at each measuring point, line closures, and staff working in the danger zone of the track.
This means that measuring is possible during regular railway operation. The high degree of automation increases occupational safety and reduces the subjective influence during data collection and shifts tasks from the track towards digital data processing on the machine or in the back office.
Benefits
- Cost reduction through automation
- No line closures thanks to high measuring speed
- No staff in the danger zone
- Available for track inspection vehicles and tamping machines
- Precise data collection for track maintenance
Target track geometry
Regular maintenance of the superstructure with a tamping machine using the compensation method can cause the track panel to move from its original position after several cycles. If the track gets too close to a platform edge or the adjacent track as a result, this can be dangerous.
The only way to maintain the target track geometry after several tamping cycles is to include fixed points.
Simple measuring
Plasser ReferencedGeometry automatically detects measuring markers and QR codes along the railway line using stereo camera technology and highly reflective reference markers at fixed points. The system precisely calculates the horizontal and vertical position relative to the track and the reference point, which enables highly accurate tamping work. In QR code mode, the measuring processes run fully automatically, ensuring maximum measurement accuracy. Damaged or missing markers are automatically detected during operation and reported to the operating staff.
Fixed-point measurement at 100 km/h
The system offers flexible applications. It can be used both as a track geometry measuring system mounted on a track inspection vehicle and directly on a tamping machine for pre- and post-measuring within the working area.
If several tamping cycles are required, reverse travel can be used to carry out pre-measuring. Based on these measurements, the machine automatically sets the working parameters for the subsequent tamping cycle, including the required lifting and lining values.
Part of an integrated system
The machine’s automated functions make the operators’ day-to-day work easier. Transition ramps can be generated automatically at the start or end of a working area, as well as at constraint points. In addition, the working parameters are continuously monitored and automatically checked. If defined limiting values are not adhered to or are exceeded, the system alerts the operator via corresponding warning messages.
